our bees

our bees

My family have been keeping bees for decades, and I when I moved to Longacre, my Aunt, Sheila, passed me all her equipment, and, more importantly stood at my shoulder and passed on the vast amount of knowledge she had acquired over the years.

Sadly Sheila is no longer with us, but the bees flourish and thrive, I like to think in her memory.

We are very lucky in the fact that all the agriculture in the area is organic, and this creates a really healthy environment for the bees to live, with no nasty insecticides being used anywhere near.

Although I may be slightly biased I would have to say that my honey is probably the best in the world.

2015 has seen the bees come out from their winter rest and as I speak are really enjoying the spring sunshine and are already collecting nectar to hopefully provide me with an early crop of delicious honey in a few weeks.
